(Corrections) ACTUAL Cartoons Deserving Movies

Well, it seems as though an article we recently published about cartoons that need to be made into movies was not entirely accurate. The article stated that Slimer and the Real Ghostbusters was the only show to get a movie, when it seems that the entire list was actually cartoons based on movies, and the Ghostbusters movie being currently produced is actually based on the original movie, and not the cartoon series.  Apparently, “journalism” requires “research” and “fact-checking”, and we should be “embarrassed” by our “egregious error”.  So TMS would like to “apologize” and “renew” our “vow” to “accuracy” and “the highest standards of journalistic integrity”.  In that spirit, here is an updated list of cartoons overdue for cinematic reboots.

Project GeeKeR

image

An artificial human is on the run with a couple of thieves to escape his evil creators who want to use his powers to rule the world. With plenty of goofball humor and a dystopic vision of tomorrow, GeeKeR was the top rated cartoon at the time of its cancellation, and now it deserves a movie.
Our picks:

image

Andy Serkis performing Geeker’s motion capture, Billy West reprising his voice

image

Emma Stone as the tough Lady Macbeth.

image

Brad Garrett returns as Noah

image

Robert Downey, Jr. as evil corporate ruler Mr. Moloch.

image

Wayne Knight as the narcissistic and paranoid Dr. Maston.

image

Jai Courtney as Stonebender, Moloch’s head of security.

Exosquad

image

Set in the 22nd century, Exosquad focused on a growing war between the Terrans, earthlings who have colonized Venus and Mars; and the Neo Sapiens, a race of genetically engineered slaves who ultimately rebel against their creators.  The title of the show comes from the “E-Frames”, powered exo-suits both sides used in space combat. Dealing with issues like slavery, racism, and war, Exosquad may be more overdue for a movie than most.
Our Picks:

Christian Bale as Lt. J. T. Marsh, leader of the Exo Squad.

image

Idris Elba as Marsala, the Terran’s trusted Neo Sapien ally.

image

Jennifer Lawrence as Nara Burns, Marsala’s fearless co-pilot and love interest.

image

Bruce Campbell as Wolf Bronski, the most complicated individual in all the Exo Fleet.

image

Ron Perlman as Giv. Gen. Phaeton, ruthless leader of the Neo Sapien residence.
